January through March bring Cartagena's driest months, when temperatures climb past thirty degrees and the city's colonial walls glow white-hot under cloudless skies. The Caribbean gleams an impossible blue, and evening breezes offer respite from midday heat.

October delivers the heaviest rains, transforming cobblestone streets into temporary rivers and sending locals scrambling under arcade overhangs. Yet the downpours pass quickly, leaving the air scrubbed clean and the stone facades streaked with rivulets. This is low season, when the city belongs more to residents than visitors.

The shoulder months of April and November balance warmth with occasional afternoon showers, cooling the stones without disrupting explorations. December through February remains the classic window for travel, though the city rewards those who come when the clouds gather and the crowds thin.
