Summer in Los Angeles means relentless sun and air that barely moves. Temperatures climb past thirty degrees from July through September, the city's famous marine layer burning off by midmorning to reveal hard blue skies. Evenings cool just enough for rooftop dinners. This is peak season for the beaches, though downtown stays hot and dry.

Winter brings the city's rainy season, though "rainy" is relative: storms blow through in January and February, leaving streets wet for a day before the sun returns. Temperatures hover near twenty degrees, dropping to single digits overnight. The light turns softer, golden in the late afternoons.
