The water stays shallow for dozens of metres, making it ideal for long wading walks at sunset. Book a traditional Polynesian va'a (outrigger canoe) tour to glide across the lagoon's interior, where the water is so clear you can see individual grains of sand on the bottom three metres below.

May through October delivers Bora Bora's driest, most dependable weather, when the trade winds keep temperatures around 26°C and rainfall drops to near-negligible levels. The light turns sharp and clean, perfect for photography and underwater visibility. November through April brings warmer air and frequent showers, though these often arrive as brief afternoon squalls that clear within an hour.
