October through March, the mountains above Anglet turn green and wet, perfect for hiking the trails that lead to Argaineko Turrusta, an eighteen-kilometre drive into the hills where waterfalls thread through oak and beech forests. Summer arrives late and lingers. July and August bring the warmest, driest weather, with temperatures climbing into the mid-twenties and the Atlantic warming enough for extended swims. The beaches fill, but early mornings remain quiet, the light slanting gold across wet sand.

Autumn stretches through October with warm days and heavier rains that green the inland hills. November turns cooler and wetter, the surf growing larger and less predictable. Winter is mild by northern European standards, rarely dipping below five degrees, though grey skies and persistent drizzle dominate December and January.

Spring begins tentatively in March, the landscape lush from winter rains. By May, temperatures reach the high teens, the markets overflowing with asparagus and strawberries. June offers the best balance: warm enough for beaches, cool enough for mountain hikes, and fewer crowds than high summer.
